"The Sea Is Calling" was created during the same period I worked on the pieces for Turning Point. At first, it was meant to represent a moment of pause—a breather in the journey that collection explores. But when I stepped back and looked at the full sequence, I realized Turning Point was complete without it. At that moment, this piece didn’t even have a name. Though it shares the same visual language, it was quietly telling a different story. It came from somewhere else entirely—my lifelong connection to the ocean, as someone born and raised by the sea. It carries a sense of connection with nature and serves as a quiet ode to solitude, like much of my work—but it ultimately speaks for itself. Still, it’s a piece I poured a lot into, and one I truly love. So now I’m bringing "The Sea Is Calling" to XRPCafé as a thank-you gift to all collectors of Turning Point. I’m grateful for your support—hope it resonates with you. — Hugo Bastos
